... but if it continues to be this hot, I can't guarantee anything!

Anyhow, I'm still around, just over at [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo most of the time. School's out - another hard proof for the existence of God - and I even managed to write a little today.

I did some crafting as well, this morning, commandeering the dining table in the kitchen, because I needed a lot of room for trying out stenciling - a technique I'm not likely to do much in the future. At least not with these self-adhesive flexible stencil strips. They don't keep their shape, don't last long (I made borders for 20 pages of a future journal and the thing already died on me) and cause an ungodly mess. I used acrylic paint, but I seriously doubt that I'd have had more luck with tempera or any other type of paint.

*le sigh* I so hoped to have found a quick and easy way to make lots of similarly decorated pages - well, this isn't it. I'll have to invest into some stamping equipment, but they are so frigging expensive, I always chicken out in the last minute.

Not much else to report. We are suffering from the heat and I'm missing my online friends. So many of them have vanished from cyberspace or wandered off to different sites and forums or are simply busy with Real Life. It is lonely out here.

Well it sounds that your morning was productive. Stencils can be unreliable, Hopefully you were happy with the 20 borders you did.

Not entirely, to be honest. I'm still struggling with the "how much paint to use and how wet to make it" question. The pattern is either too thick (too much and too dry paint) or barely recognizable (too much water). *sigh* But pale blue on pale purple looks fairly good, so I might be able to use the sheets eventually.

Paint can be difficult. Hopefully you will master the right combinations to get the color and the thickness the way you want it.

Honestly, I think it will take a lot of time before I'd give this thing another try.

Sounds like you had a productive morning! And yay for school being out, I'm sure you'll be able to write more once the heat lessens.

I did write almost 5 pages in the last two days. I just can't bring up the energy to type it up. But school being out is a noble thing indeed. I've slept more since Thursday than in the entire half-term before.

Typing up can come later, written is written! Right now sounds like you need to catch up on sleep and pamper your body a bit

Thank you. :) You are the only steady factor on LJ in these days.

Hope the heat eases off for you. We are in the heart of winter here, which is at the moment quite mild and pleasant. Frosty mornings, clear skies, cold evenings. Walking weather, so I'm taking advantage of that. I would rather a hundred winters than a single summer. Enjoy your break from the kids and stay cool!

Oh I agree with you about the seasons. Too cold winters are uncool, too, of course, since our dratted concrete monstrosity of a 10-storey block of flats can't really keep out the cold (no decent isolation, alas), but at least you can heat when you are too cold.

Others may loathe winter but I would rather twenty winters than a single summer. Stay cool and enjoy your break from the kids. Thinking of you!
